Lisa Kelly, PhD, BCC
My interest in integrative healing began when my youngest brother was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 9. As I watched him undergo painful and ultimately ineffective medical treatments I became determined to find alternative, holistic and nurturing ways to help people heal.
I began my journey to learn all I could about human beings and their innate ability to heal by studying alternative healing modalities at St. Mary's University in Minneapolis. Throughout my Master's degree program I studied Guided Imagery, Meditation, Jungian Psychology, Transpersonal Psychology, Psychosynthesis and Life Coaching.
After graduation I worked as a Life Coach integrating guided imagery and spirituality into my practice. Although I saw how effective coaching could be when combined with guided imagery and transpersonal awareness, I felt like something was still missing. So, I returned to graduate school.
In 2007 I earned a PhD from Saybrook University in Psychology with a concentration in Consciousness and Spirituality. I worked for a number of years as a director and faculty member of Saybrook University's College of Mind-Body Medicine. I taught courses in utilizing imagery, spirituality and coaching for healing. I also worked with numerous graduate students doing research on the role the mind can play in healing the body. In this process I became intrigued by the research that showed that many body symptoms were sourced in psychological or spiritual issues.
As my academic career progressed I experienced increasingly more intense levels of stress and began to struggle with my own health issues. Suddenly, all that I had learned became immediately relevant to me. I began to apply what I knew about mind-body medicine to facilitate my own well-being. As a result of this personal healing journey, I realized it was time to use my knowledge and experience to serve others.
After resigning from my academic position, I studied Process Acupressure, Clinical Acupressure, Massage and Reiki. By combining these body work modalities with my knowledge of human psychology and experience in coaching and guided imagery I created a truly integrative body, mind and spirit healing practice. My goal is to provide a sacred, loving and nurturing space for individuals to explore, to grow and to heal.
